This type of extra education is very impressive on your resume, and can put you ahead of other applicants because you bring more global awareness and understanding through your studies abroad.

The types of classes you can take in a study abroad in England program will vary depending on the university at which you study. These types of experiences are unique to each county in which you study, and allow you to understand the people and places of Great Britain and other countries as you cannot by simply reading about it.

In addition to cultural and academic classes, there will also be some down time. This will allow you to explore Britain with fellow classmates, as well as get to know other students in the study abroad in England program. These kinds of friendships last long after the semester of study abroad in England is over. Why Choose Nursing Abroad as a Career

| Posted in

Why choose nursing abroad as a career? Many reasons come to mind; you can advance your career, gain a variety of clinical experiences, make a higher salary and, fulfill your travel desires, to name a few.

Many countries are experiencing an acute shortage of qualified experienced nurses. This has resulted in a golden opportunity for internationally educated nurses to move overseas either temporarily for a year or two, or to immigrate permanently.

Advancing your Nursing Career Abroad

Because these countries are crying out for nurses to fill immediate vacancies at all levels it is easy for overseas nurses to springboard their way into senior nursing positions which may include supervisory or management roles.

Even if you are not keen on moving your nursing career abroad permanently, taking your nursing job overseas for a year or two to gain experience in a management role can launch you into management once you return home with a newly enhanced resume.

Gain a Variety of Clinical Experience

Nursing overseas can open up opportunities to encounter different clinical experiences because although you will probably initially be hired to nurse in the specialty in which you currently have experience, you will come across country and region specific experiences.

Nursing overseas will also allow you to gain experience in alternative techniques and approaches to nursing and healthcare.

Earn a Higher Salary

Countries experiencing acute nursing shortages are desperate for nurses to fill the vacancies in their healthcare system. As a result they are often paying higher wages in an attempt to attract more nurses, both domestically and internationally. Many healthcare recruiters are also offering benefits and bonuses that can add to your bottom line.

I have had a number of colleagues who have worked abroad for a few years to save money then returned home with a healthy house deposit or paid off their student loans completely.

Travel and Explore the World

Nursing abroad means you will make your home in a new region of the world. The opportunity this lends to explore new countries and cultures is priceless. If your dream is to explore the UK, the USA, Australia... then moving your nursing career abroad to one of these countries currently experiencing acute nursing shortages will give you the opportunity to fulfill your dream and fund it at the same time.

This is a technique I have used personally to explore the UK, Eastern Europe and South East Asia over the last 12 years.

Nursing is a transferable occupation

Moving your nursing career abroad is a realistic option for both experienced and newly registered nurses not only because there is a worldwide shortage of nurses, but also because there is a long history of nurses moving around the world to work.

The most you will be required to do in order to get a job in a new country is prove you are registered at home, have a suitable equivalent level of education and training and perhaps sit an exam. While different countries have vastly different rules which can be confusing to work around, it is easy to find a nursing job abroad with the right road map through the recruiting and registration process.

Travel Nursing - An Adventure Awaits

| Posted in

For some people, the idea of working at the same place day after day is a little boring. If you have a little bit of wanderlust and you're a licensed healthcare professional, you may want to consider travel nursing.

Travel nurses work in temporary positions - anywhere from eight weeks to a calendar year. The average assignment is 13 weeks. You're hired to relieve healthcare facilities that are overburdened for a specific amount of time. For example, an employee may need to take a medical leave or a clinic may have increased workload due to seasonal tourism. There are any number of reasons why a healthcare facility would need a temporary employee.

Sometimes a temporary assignment can turn into a permanent job. So this is something you may also want to consider if you're currently unemployed and want to shop around for a permanent position without making a real commitment.

Travel nursing is a lot like working with a temporary employment agency. You'll sign up with a service and then the agency will call you when they find a good match for your qualifications and your desires. Once you and the medical facility agree that it's a good match, you'll be off to work.

This can be a great way for you to get paid to travel all over the country in various positions. You can also earn a very good living - making anywhere from $22-40 per hour. Because many temporary positions furnish housing as well, you'll really be saving money in living expenses. In fact, the housing facilities for traveling nurses are generally very high quality and are prepared before you arrive complete with furniture.

If you're not sure where you want to put down roots, you want to try out a facility before you make a commitment, or you just enjoy seeing the country travel nursing may be right for you.

Your first step to becoming a travel nurse is to find an agency that provides this service. There are several to choose from. Once you've chosen a good agency, you can begin the paperwork and the matching process.

Travel nurses are in demand, just as all nurses are at this time. If you want to work only a few weeks a year you can, but if you're looking for work throughout the year you should have no trouble finding enough placements. If you enjoy trying new things, meeting new people, working in new environments, and having freedom and flexibility - this is the perfect career for you!

Ways to Stay Connected While on Vacation

| Posted in

When traveling, it's important to stay in touch with loved ones. This importance only grows the longer you are on vacation. While many people take vacations to get away from it all, those left behind still want to know how the trip is going.

Letters and post cards are a great way to let people know how your trip is going. It's also a cheap way to send a message to someone. Everyone loves getting mail, and it's fun to even send mail to yourself! You can send a postcard a day while backpacking across Europe for some world class scrap booking material. Post cards also let your friends and family know exactly where you were when you sent it.

For many people, Email is the number one form of communication, not only in their everyday lives, but while on vacation as well. With wireless hubs in pretty much every major city in the world, traveling with a computer is how many choose to stay in touch. Some however, prefer to use internet cafes, which are also found in major cities. Many of these are open 24 hours, and offer webcams so that you can talk directly to your loved ones. They are typically more expensive than post cards, but it offers travelers a great way to get instantly connected.

Like email, cell phones are another great way to stay connected to people while traveling. Smart phones offer a chance to send photos, voice memos, and all kinds of other information with the push of a button. While cell phones are good to have with you, it's always important to check with your carrier to make sure you are not going to be charged outrageous roaming fees when you travel.

Another way to let others know where you are is with a GPS. Many GPS units now have the ability to download trip information, and can tell you your average speeds, travel time, and compile all kinds of other data. You can even set some up to instantly post information to the internet!

Whether you end up with a cell phone, computer, GPS rental, or sending postcards, it's important to stay in touch with friends and family while on vacation!

Tips For Packing For a Ski Vacation

| Posted in

Packing for a ski vacation can be tough; not only do you need clothing that will keep you warm on the slopes, but you may want to participate in any nightlife that goes on at the lodge where you will be staying so outfits for this activity will be needed.

Most Important

Before you pack anything else pack your ski gear. You will want to wear lots of layers, bring along thermal underwear, turtlenecks that are thin and plenty of socks. You probably will want to bring along a sweater or a fleece to put on top. Water repellent pants are also a good idea as you may find yourself falling a little bit more than you would have liked.

Other Essentials

To keep the cold at bay you will need a scarf or muffler, gloves, a hat and goggles or sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun on the snow. Even though it is winter, you will be out in the sun so don't forget to bring along sunscreen.

After a day on the slopes you want to have a change of clothes that make you feel sexy yet right at home at the lodge. When you are sipping on a hot cup of cocoa or enjoying a refreshing alcoholic beverage you want to have attractive clothing that will give a feeling of self confidence. Make sure you pack enough to keep you warm and cozy but don't pack so much that you have to hire a caravan to carry along your luggage.
